Infantry Roles within the Royal Marines

The roles a commando may take.
Medic
Medics are the "Field Doctors" of the Commandos. As a Medic you play a vital role, and are the section's life-line.
Kit used: L85A2 Assault Rifle.

Marine
The backbone of the Commandos. These brave men fight overburdened using rifles to win any, and every fire-fight.
Weapons:L85A2 Assault Rifle

Marksman
As a Marksman you are relied upon to deliver unrivalled accuracy in support of the section. Able to hit into any target required.
Weapons: (Medium range) L129A1 Sharpshooter Rifle, ...

Sniper
Long range supporter. As a Sniper your job is to liquidate targets in support your
teammates over huge distances, and at times you will be required to operate as a scout.

Weapons:L115A3 Long Range Rifle

Support-Gunner
As a support gunner, you are charged with the protection and support of a squad when they are carrying out manoeuvres. Operation the heavy, but effective Machine-Guns of the Commandos. Delivering rounds per second in suppression in support of the squad.(MG)
Weapons: MG's of all types..

Engineer
The Engineer is a key part of a platoon, highly skilled and able to repair any damage in any environment.
Weapons:L85A2 Rifle

AT-Rifleman
Carrying the heavy Anti-Tank guns of the Commandos. These men are trained to neutralise armoured targets. A vital role, but a difficult one.
Weapons: L85A2 as well as Anti-Tank launchers.

Demolitions
Carrying the 'toys' of the section, these lads are masters of their trade. Able to blow 'the bloody doors of'. Used for taking out objective targets, and even vehicles.
Weapons: L85A2, and C4, Satchel Charges etc...

Grenadier
The grenadier's task is the clear buildings using projectiles. Frags, flash bangs, and incendiaries are this man's game: using them to clear large groups of hostiles with ease.
Weapons: L85A2 UGL - As well as frag-grenades

Just a quick pointer, in the Royal Marines riflemen don't exist they are either referred as a GD or a Marine. A Rifleman in 3CDO Brigade is a part of the Army as the first battalion the Rifles. Thankyou for the information in this thread however!

And trust me, the worst thing you can do to a Royal Marine is to call them a part of the army! Aha Not that they have anything against the army its just ofcourse someone within the army would get kind of pissed off if someone called them a part of the navy, eh get what I mean?
